Wood
Wood, Lumber, Trees, Stick
Knot Face
A face of wood only a knotty mother could love. Another result of pine tree root meeting Florida hardpan. (6" x 2" x 2")
Wise Wood
A piece of soft driftwood that has risen to the top; maybe wise, maybe arrogant. (5" x 5.5") Object is mounted on a tropical hardwood called green-heart.
Naughty Knot
A pine tree root that reached the depth of Florida hardpan. An example of the secrets an overturned tree will reveal. .(1.75"h x 1.5"d)
Bamboo Horn
While it is a bamboo root it looks like it should belong to a ram. Found on the beach in southern Taiwan. (9.5" x 6" x2.5")
Straight with Curves
Another yulem object of Florida yellow pine. We call this type of wood "lighter knot" because it is so saturated with pine resin that it easily ignites and burns with a thick, black smoke. The center wood is straight grained vertically but the portion behind it runs circularly. It was found in our cow pasture. (4 1/2"x 4 1/2x 2 1/4", base is solid oak, satin surface protectant applied)
Serpentine Knot
A strange contortion of Florida yellow pine. The unique surface bleaching of the wood found object is protected by a satin finish. You decide what it looks like; good or evil! (5"x 8"x 3", base is solid aromatic cedar)
Leaf Scar
This piece of tree is the leaf scar of a large plant that grows along the Pacific coast of Taiwan's southern tip. There it serves to protect the beaches from wave and tidal erosion. It shares many similarities of appearance with a pineapple but is in fact a branching plant unlike the pineapple. It also grows to a height of 8-12 feet. (2" x 2" x 1.5")
Gnarly Lighter Knot #4
This pine wood yulem object has an amazing number of surface variations. It was found in the tractor barn and was subject to the random forces found in such a place. How it got there is unknown. That it was rescued is for certain. (7 1/2"x 4 1/2"x 2 1/4", base is solid red oak)
Alien Knot
A wood knot not from this earth! It is yellow pine from Florida but you would never know by looking at it. One of the more unusual yulem objects that I've found. Alien is the most descriptive adjective for this piece. The photograph is a partial revelation at best. (4"x 10"x 3 1/2", base is solid, aromatic cedar, satin surface protection applied)
